Early is Better

I got out early this morning and did 75/65 intervals for 40 minutes again. It was still pleasant by the time I finished up. Tonight was the second sign-up for Fort Bend Fit. We had a good crowd. It was nice to see the returning members and lots of new faces.
Saturday is a 10 miler for me. I'm looking forward to the Freedom 5K on Tuesday. I hope to PR (make a personal record).

Another 75/65 Intervals for 40 Minutes

It really was cool this morning, and I was glad that I got to enjoy it. I was really tired, so I ended my session with more walking than usual.
Saturday's long run will be 10 miles. I'm going to create a route that takes me through the park.

75/65 Intervals for 40 Minutes

This morning I got out at 8:00am and it was still fairly cool (if you consider 80 cool). I adjusted the intervals by 5 seconds each, shortening my walking and increasing my running.

7 Miles

I was scheduled to do 8 miles for my Saturday run, but since I need to be at FBF registration at 7:00am, I couldn't figure out how I was going to fit it in without getting up at 4:30am. So I decided to run tonight. I went to Oyster Creek Park and did the the Loop 2x plus some for a total of 7 miles. I figured that since I accidentally did 8.5 last week, it was OK to do 7 this week. It feels good to have the run behind me. I'll rest until Monday.

40 Minutes 70/70 Intervals

I was able to get out early this morning. The weather was cool, as the sun had just started to rise. The 40 minutes seemed to zip by. Tonight I got my CPR certification for FBF. I hope that I never have to use it, but I am ready if I do.

70/70 Intervals for 40 Minutes

Tuesdays are always tough. I wasn't able to squeeze in my workout until 3:45pm. Although it had been raining all day, it eased up while I was out. The sun was shining, but there was a breeze and it was drizzling, so it felt really good. My left leg IT band began to tug during my runs, so I did 10 second stretches during my walking intervals and that seemed to help. I elevated and iced my leg when I got home and it feels better. Tomorrow is a welcome rest day.

45 Minutes 70/70 Intervals

There was lightening this morning at 6:30am so I waited until close to 9:00am to go out. It was misty and drizzled a few times during my work-out, but it felt good. I lengthened my running interval by 5 seconds and shortened the walking part by the same. I could feel the difference, but after about 15 minutes it wasn't too bad.

8.5 Miles by Mistake

This morning I met Bob at Velocity around 6:30am. I had printed out 2 maps, one for 6 miles and another for 7 miles. Bob let me choose, so we went for 7 miles. I glanced at the map and we took off. The route was up Dulles, down Cartwright to Brightwater, up to Lexington, back to Dulles and into the Park and back out. After we were in the park for about 2 miles we got really tired and decided to ease up on our intervals (65/75). We walked the balance in and could not believe how long it had taken us to do 7 miles. Later this morning, Bob called to say he looked at the map again and noticed that we were supposed to turn around at the 1.5 mile marker. We had added an extra 1.5 miles to our workout. No wonder I'm exhausted!

35 Minutes of 65/75 Intervals

I didn't get out until around 7:00pm. It was still pretty hot but at least the smog had lifted. I wanted to run longer, but I was tired and the green area sprinklers kept coming on along my path. I've confirmed that I prefer training in the mornings as opposed to the evenings.

Hoping to get 7 miles in on Saturday.

35 Minutes of 65/75 Intervals

I was limited on my time this morning, so I did what I could. It was getting pretty hot by the time I got out, but I managed to get in 35 minutes of 65/75 intervals. The geese were out by the lake again and ready for a fight. I was too, and sprayed them with my trusty water.

One Hour of 65/75 Intervals

This morning's training was a lot easier than Saturday's. The air still had a slight chill to it even though it was already close to 8:00am. When I finished up by the lake, the evil geese were there, nastier than ever because they were protecting their young. I managed to get around them when they started to charge.

Came Up a Bit Short

I had every intention of doing 6 miles today, but I had an 8:30 workshop downtown and could not get myself up at 5:00am in order to accomplish it. I wasn't able to get out until 7:00pm and it was still scorching hot. Although I tried to stay in the shade, it was really tough. I pushed as much as I could but only managed 4 miles. I'll try to pick up the slack on Monday.

65/75 for 45 Minutes

This morning's workout was a real challenge. I started to leave at 7:45am and got stuck on the phone. When I finally got outside, the common areas of my "route" were being mowed. I managed to navigate around them, but the fumes were not pleasant. I still did 65/75 intervals for 45 minutes after a 5 minute warm-up.

The results for the NY Marathon Lottery were announced yesterday and I was disappointed to discover that I did not get in. Bob and a Terrell and a number of other FBFers did. Since the odds of getting picked were 1 in 3 , I had a back-up plan - I had registered for the Chicago Marathon. So that's where I will be going for my fall marathon in October, which means I need to start increasing my long runs on Saturday.

65/75 for 40 Minutes

The weather was really pleasant this morning at 9:00am. The air still had a minute chill to it. I decided to adjust my intervals again, so I increased my running to 65 seconds and reduced my walking to 75 seconds. I know they seem like tiny adjustments, but this method has worked for me. My intentions are to stay injury free while reducing my racing times, all with the goal of finishing the Houston Marathon this coming January in under 6 hours.

40 Minutes

I wasn't able to get out until 11:30am. It was pretty hot, so I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible. Since I was coming off a 2 day migraine I had planned to walk the entire time, however I tried doing intervals and had no problem. So, after a 5 minute warm-up I stuck with 60/80 intervals.

Tonight I attended a Fort Bend Fit coaches' meeting and am excited to say that I will be assisting Coach Terrell in the new Orange group for slower runners. The season will be starting soon with the first official day of the season on July 15th. Watch the FBF website (link to the left) formore details.

Impact a Hero 5K

Jannelle Before the Race

This morning was the Impact a Hero 5K at Lost Creek Park, the same course as the Eclipse 5K and the upcoming Freedom 5K. The race started at 7:30am, so although it was hot, it could have been worse. I PR'd with a chip time of 38:34:5, running as far as I could at the beginning of the race (about 2 minutes) and then doing 80 (walking)/60 (running) intervals. I felt great after the race but wound up with a migraine later in the day. The after race party and program were well done. Bob won third place in his age group!

40 Minutes 60/80 Intervals

It drizzled almost the entire time I was out this morning and it felt really good. I was able to run intervals after a 5 minute warm-up and my foot didn't hurt at all. The Impact a Hero 5K is this Saturday morning at Lost Creek Park and I'll be ready.
