30 Minutes of 1:00/1:00 Intervals

I got out early this morning, but it was still hot. I ran 1:00/1:00 intervals for the whole time. The geese are back. They were on the other side of the lake honking like crazy. I know it won't be long until they find their way to the other side.

30 Minutes With Sprinkles of Intervals

The weather was fairly pleasant when I went out this morning. I made it back in just before the rains. I ran intermittently for about half the time. I'd like for my time at the July 4th 5K to be decent, so I'm going to try to run more during these next few trainings. Tomorrow night is the first sign-up for Fort Bend Fit. The season officially starts on July 14th.

30 Minutes in the Rain with New Shoes

I decided that today would be a good day to start breaking in a new pair of shoes. I had only looked to the East and hadn't noticed the huge storm coming up from the West. The skies opened up after 10 minutes and the rain pelted down. The winds picked up, the temperature dropped and it was like a tropical storm. I kept on going, and avoided getting knocked over by falling branches. The storm stopped almost as quickly as it had started. By the time I got home it was just drizzling. My new shoes got a bigger breaking in than I had intended.

6 Miles in the Park

This morning Bob, Steve and I walked 6 miles in Oyster Creek Park. It was overcast, but muggy. Bob and Steve were moving a lot faster than me, so I had to keep running every once in awhile to keep up with them. This was the first time since late April that I had done more than 4.5 miles and it felt good. Steve tried relentlessly to guilt me into doing NY. All I can say is that I haven't cancelled anything yet, but I'm not plannig on going.

30 Minutes A Lot Earlier

I was able to make it out while it was still "cool". I ran 1:00/1:00 intervals for 30 minutes. It was good to be running again. But I'm still planning on joining the walking group this season. That way I don't I can walk when I want to and run when I feel like it.

My Not So Long Run

Bob and I were scheduled to meet at Oyster Creek park this morning at 7:30am, but we cancelled because of the lightening. I fell back to sleep and decided it was too hot by the time I was ready to go out. It rained on and off throughout the day, but cleared up and cooled off by this evening, so I was able to get out for an hour. I didn't get to go as far as I would have liked, but I did get close to 4 miles in.
And, I've definitely decided to defer my entry for the New York Marathon until 2008.

30 More Minutes

I was able to squeeze my 3rd work-out in this week. I did one minute bursts, every 3 minutes. I'm going to try to do a little running next week, but I'm still going to drop back to the walking group.

Another 40 Minutes with Bursts

I got into the NY Marathon. I have mixed feelings. I really want to do it, but I'm not mentally ready to start my 18 week program in just over a week.

I'm seriously thinking about dropping back to the purple walking group. The last time I really ran was at the Astros 5K, and that was minimal.

I did 40 minutes of walking this morning with intermittent intense bursts of 1 minute.

40 Minutes Walking Outside

I took a leisurely walk this morning while it was still early. I didn't get my long run in this weekend and would have liked to run, but felt a headache coming on. I didn't listen to music, took the sights in instead. There were many beautiful birds (including a scarlet cardinal), the usual ducks and a lot of turtles. The lake had a strange oilish green cover around the edges and it was impossible to see below the surface. I thought about the upcoming training season and think I'll slip back to the purple walking group. The results of the NY lottery will be posted tomorrow at noon (EST).

30 Minutes on the Treadmill

I'm out of town this weekend and will miss my long run, so I thought I'd better try the treadmill at the hotel. I did 30 minutes with hills (this time the incline worked!).

30 More Minutes

The weather was beautiful this morning at 7:00am. There was a chil in the air that quickly vanished by the time I was finished. I took a different route this morning and much to my surprise, Susie and a couple of other FBF folks were riding their bikes on Sweetwater.

30 Minutes Walking

The past two weeks have been extremely stressful and needless to say, my diet went out the window. Stan and I have vowed to renew our healthy eating habits again, today. Hopefully we will stay on course. I really felt the extra pounds yesterday and this morning.

4.5 Miles at Oyster Creek

Bob and I walked 4.5 miles this morning in the park. That was after Bob completed the Impact a Hero 5K yesterday. We waited until 8:00 am to get out, so it was really hot. We're anxiously awaiting the results of the New York Marathon Lottery which should be out mid June. Then we'll see how early we need to start training.
