30 Minutes in the Fog

The fog was pretty heavy when I got out this morning. The visibility wasn't too bad, but being envelopoed by mist was a little strange. The sun was trying to break through, but a few times the condesation dripping from the leaves of the trees felt like rain. It was a very surreal experience.

35 Minutes

I made it out in the early morning again. The weather was still cool, although it's starting to warm up a little. My plan is to get out again tomorrow and then figure out how I'm going to do my long run on the weekend, as I have a Toastmasters event that starts early on Saturday.

40 Minutes in the Early Morning

It was really chilly this morning. I donned my earmuffs and gloves and enjoyed the weather. I "applied" Monday's walk to the weekend, and didn't make hills last night, so my goal is to get out 2 more times this week.

6.5 Miles in Beautiful Weather

With the heavy rains this weekend, it was impossible for me to do my long run. I was able to get out during lunch-time and do 6.5 miles. The weather was terrific - sunny skies, crisp air and a slight, chilly breeze. The time seemed to zip by. Except for a little mud, it was perfect. So now I just need to squeeze 3 more trainings in this week.

Roller Skating - an Alternative to Running?

I don't think so..... Tonight a bunch of FBFers celebrated the birthdays of Steph, Patty, Kevin and Jacque at Skate Central in Stafford. Most everyone donned skates, including Stan. It had been at least 30 years since we had skated. Stan fell before he even got on the rink floor. I did fairly well for a while, and then Jacque and I tried to line up so Mike could take our picture and we fell flat on our rears. My tail bone was sore, but I got up and continued to skate. When I passed Stan, I brushed his head, he panicked, I grabbed him and we both went down, with me on top of him. This time I hurt my elbow, knee and hip. Stan was fine. I guess the "Old Grey Mare Ain't What She Used to Be!"

Sugar Land Turkey Trot

It's Thanksgiving. Today was the annual Turkey Trot 5 miler in Sugar Creek, its 23rd year. This was my 3rd time to participate. It was very chilly, with a head wind, but the skies were blue and the sun was shining. I ran for the first minute and then decided to walk the race. I walked with a nice young woman named Evelyn who was a big Disney fan. She liked my Mickey Earmuffs and told me about her Disney Marathon last year. The time flew.Although it took me 1:18 to finish, I didn't feel like I had anything to prove this year. When the race was over, I met Stan and we delivered "Meals on Wheels" then shared a lovely Thanksgiving Dinner with family and friends.

32 Minutes in Great Weather

Based on the forecasts, I expected it to be really nasty this morning, but it was delightful - warm with a nice breeze sunshine. Stan joined me this morning and much to my surprise I didn't have to slow down too much to accommodate his pace. It only took us an extra 2 minutes to walk my usual route.

35 Minutes in the Late Afternoon

Hills were on the agenda for tonight, but we had an opportunity to see a preview for "Enchanted" so I opted for that. I did manage to get out in the late afternoon and walk for 35 minutes. It was muggy, but there was a breeze so it wasn't too bad. Thursday is the Turkey Trot 5 Miler, so as long as I make it to that, I'll have at least 2 trainings in this week. I hope to get out again on Wednesday- we'll see.

6 Miles with Bob

Half Marathoners were scheduled for 11 miles today.Since Bob did the San Antonio Half, and I didn't get my long run in last weekend, we opted for 6 miles. We took the route up Dulles into the park and back. Most people thought it was going to be cool this morning and dressed in long sleeves, including me and Bob. It was a bit hot, but we managed.

30 Minutes

The weather was great this morning, right before dawn - nice and cool. I walked for 30 minutes. I won't get out again until the weekend, hoping to do at least 6 miles on Saturday.

35 Minutes After Too Long of a Gap

I hadn't been out since last Friday. My plan to do the local 25K instead of San Antonio didn't work out either, nor did my long run this weekend. Multiple migraines since early last week (except for this Saturday) and through Tuesday, plus other activities got in my way. The migraines appear to have been caused from ingesting some of the mist from the nose spray that I've been giving my Mom to help her broken arm heal. One of its side effects, migraines, has apparently taken a while to impact me. Lucky for both of us, she doesn't need it any more.
I got out bright and early this morning and walked for 35 minutes. The weather was pleasant with a little chill in the air.
Hopefully, I'm back on track.

30 Minutes at Dusk

I was rewarded by great weather when I finally got out just before sundown. When I got to the lake there were those pesky geese. Luckily they were focused on something on the other side of the lake and didn't notice me until I was out of harm's way. Needless to say, I avoided the lake on my return trip.

30 Minutes in the AM

I made it out this morning while it was still cool and did a brisk 30 minutes in the neighborhood. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to do the 25K this Sunday. It's about 2.5 miles longer than the Half I would have done in San Antonio. Since I've had several headaches this week so I'll have to see how I feel on Saturday.

50 Minutes of Hills

Tonight Bob and I did hills at the Town Center garage. The weather had cooled and I seemed to have extra energy, so it went pretty fast. We are both signed up to do the San Antonio Half this coming Sunday. I have a Toastmasters function and was originally going to leave early to head to San Antonio. But my friend Carla is now a finalist in the Humorous Speech contest and I want to see her compete, so I won't finished until close to 8:00pm. I decided that a late, long drive plus very little sleep the night before a race spell disaster, so I'm going to skip the half. If I feel up to it, I might do the 25K here in Houston on Sunday, instead.

4 Mile Optimists Run

This morning was the Optimist Club's 4 mile race. It was a small event with a 2 mile walk that I was able to convince Stan to do. Bob and his sister, Sherry, also participated. Sherry has been training with FBF and this was her first official race.
My time was 53:42, an average 13:35 minute mile. Considering I only got to train 1x this past week, I'm very pleased.
Today was the NY Marathon. Steve finished in 6:38. I can't wait to hear about his experience.

30 Minutes for the First Time This Week

It took be a bit to recover from Sunday's Half. I was planning on doing hills Tuesday, but a painting project wore me out and before I knew it the week was over. I did manage to get out this morning and to do a brisk 30 minutes. Tomorrow I'll do 6 miles and on Sunday, the Optimist race which is 4 miles. then next Sunday, if all works out, is the San Antonio Half Marathon.
