Back on Track!

It was a bit on the chilly side when I went out this morning. There was a little fog, too. It felt so good to be back on schedule. Nothing clears the mind like good weather and a nice walk. I walked briskly for 35 minutes. Hope to get out tomorrow, too.

8 Miles in Oyster Creek Park

It was Wednesday before I started to feel human again, but waited until Thursday to leave leave the house. I was busy all day Thursday, and Friday, so it wasn't until today that I finally made it out to train. A full week is the longest I've ever gone without even a short walk.
This morning I met Bob and his sister, Sherry at Oyster Creek park. We did 8 miles at a leisurely pace. Between Bob's leg acting up and me just recovering from a bug, we were in no rush to get anywhere. It was very chilly and a little windy. It took us 2.5 hours, but we got our mileage in. I'm really glad we did since the Houston Marathon is in 2 weeks.

Best Laid Plans

I started to feel pretty bad last night and when I woke up this morning, I had a runny nose, cough and achy body. I stayed in bed the entire day. Hopefully, my full week's exercise will carry me through. I doubt I'll get out again before Christmas.

Helping Instead of Walking

I knew I wouldn't make it out to walk this morning, so I got up in time to help the folks at Finish Line set up and serve. It was nice to see everyone right before the holiday. I plan on doing my long run tomorrow.

Back From Vacation

Stan and I left for vacation bright and early Sunday Morning, December 16th. We arrived in Orlando at the Disney All Sports Resort and headed straight over to MGM Studios and stayed until close to 11:00pm. I tried to map our mileage on Gmap-pedometers.com, but the Disney park areas are not well defined. I calculated that we walked approximately 4 miles. We spent the entire week at Disney World, Monday was Epcot, Tuesday Animal Kingdom during the day and Magic Kingdom at night. Wednesday we did both parks at Universal, Thursday Downtown Disney plus MGM, again. Friday morning we did a special 5 hour behind the scenes tour of the Magic Kingdom called "Keys to the Kingdom." It was a lot of fun, but we'll never see Disney World through the same eyes, again. All tolled, I figure that we walked a total a complete Marathon during our 6 days there. Stan did really well, although his feet and legs were hurting a lot. We didn't arrive home until after midnight, so I knew I wouldn't make it up at 3:30m for FBF's 10 mile in Sugar Creek.

35 Minutes in Winter Weather

A cold front came in last night. It was nippy when I got out just before 7:00am. The paths were covered with leaves and it was still pretty damp from all lof the rain.

One Hour of Hills

Tonight, Bob,his sister Sherry and I did hills together. Bob's Sciatica was still hurting and Sherry's pace is a little slower than ours, so we went much slower than usual. After the first lap, Nancy joined us. It took an hour to do 3 laps but it was just fine! My schedule is really crazy, so I doubt that I'll get 3 trainings in this week. This Saturday FBF is joining Katy Fit for their 21 Miler. There's no way I can spare the extra time to get to Hershey Park and back, so Bob and I will probably do 8to 10 miles in Oyster Creek Park.

30K Volunteer

I almost talked myself into sleeping in this morning. I was exhausted and had not officially committed to volunteer. But I wanted to support my FBF friends, so I arrived at the water station at 5:45am and helped with the set up. Our first station was just before mile 2. After everyone passed by, we moved to the 3 loop turn-a-around which tripled for mile 12,8 and 16.3.I know what a difference a supportive crowd can make when, as a runner, you've been out there a long time. I cheered so hard that my voice became hoarse. I'm glad I volunteered.

7.5 Miles in Oyster Creek

This morning Bob and I walked in Oyster Creek Park. It was overcast, warm and humid.I had wanted to do at least 8, but Bob's Siatica was hurting him and my knee started to act up, so we called it quits at 7.5. We're going to volunteer at the 30K tomorrow.

30 Minutes in the Cold

What crazy weather we've been having! It really warmed up yesterday, so I expected it to be warm this morning, but it was quite chilly. I had an 8:00am appointment so I did my training right before sunrise. Just 30 minutes in the neighborhood. I'll be short one training this week, but will try to get in 8 to 10 miles on Saturday.

30 Minutes in Great Weather

It was beginning to warm up when I made it out for my walk. Since I'm counting Monday as my long run, I would still like to get two more trainings in before the weekend, but I don't see how. Bob and I will do our long run on Saturday and volunteer at the 30K this Sunday.

90 Minutes on the Treadmill

The weather was absolutely beautiful this morning, but I trained on the treadmill instead of going outside. Why? I'm in the mddle of a great book and didn't have enough time to read and run, so I did both. I did lose my place a few times, reading the same paragraph more than once - one of the hazards of trying to multi-task. I'll count today as my long run.
