30 Minutes in the Neighborhood

I had intended to do 6 miles today, but my legs were sore from my short bike ride yesterday, so I only managed my typical 30 minutes. I'm signed up for the Rodeo Run 10K next Saturday, but I'm not sure that I'll be ready for it.

3 Miles on the Bike

This afternoon Bob and I took our bikes to University of Houston (Sugar Land) and rode 3 miles. It was my first time on the bike in years. We rode from the parking lot to Sugar Land Memorial Park and back. There was a headwind going out, so we averaged about 7 mph. The return was a lot faster, over 15 mph. I could tell it's going to take a while for me to get used to the seat and the use of new muscles.

30 Minutes More

It was late afternoon when I made it our for my walk. The temperatures had cooled and it was very pleasant. I'm trying to work on my strategy for the weekend - probably won't be able to do my long walk until Sunday morning.

30 Minutes Before the Rain

I was wishy washy about doing hills last night and when I finally decided that I should, Bob wasn't available. I waited until this morning to get out and barely missed the rain.
I did 30 minutes in the neighborhood. I'm waiting for my Triathlon book to arrive so that I can see "where" I need to be.

Austin - DNS and 1 hour in the Neighborhood

The weather cleared and it would have been a great day for a race, but we didn't go. When I woke up Saturday morning, Stan was ill and had been up all night. He had some sort of stomach virus and I didn't want to leave him. Bob and I agreed to cancel our trip, so we Did Not Start or in our case - Did Not Show (DNS).

I went out for one hour this morning in lieu of my long walk. The weather was wonderful.

30 Minutes Walking

It had warmed up by the time I got out this morning. I walked in the neighborhood for 30 minutes. The weather forecast for Sunday's Austin Half Marathon is a little better than it had been. There's now only a 20% chance of rain but with high winds are expected, with the temperature in the 60's.

55 Minutes of Hills

Bob and I did hills tonight. Even though it's a taper week, we still felt our legs needed the extra work-out. I'll probably walk just one more time this week.Hopefully the Austin weather holds out for Sunday.

6 Miles at Oyster Creek

Bob and I met at Oyster Creek and did 6 miles. I thought it was going to be warmer than it was and wore a tank top. It was foggy, and the air was a bit chilly and damp. But after about 45 minutes, the sun broke out and it thankfully warmed up. Bob did a 25 mile bike ride yesterday, but was feeling fine. It took us longer than usual, as we are both behind on our training. We figure we have 4 hours to finish Austin and will probably use every minute of it.

35 Minutes

The weather was very pleasant this morning. There was a little chill in the air, but the skies were clear. The geese were out in full force, but much tomy delight, they flew away as I got near them. I'm hoping we'll get a long walk in this weekend, since Austin is just a week from this coming Sunday.

8 Laps Swimming

Jacque and I signed up to do the Sugar Land Women's Tri on June 22nd. So this morning we met at the Aquatic Center pool so that we could figure out our time for the 300 meter swim. The pool was heated, but the outside temperature was 45 degrees and windy. The water was fine, but getting in and out was the killer. We thought each length was 50 meters, so we did 8 laps with a little break in between. Turns out the laps were only 25 yards or 22.86 meters, so we did a lot less than we thought. But that's OK, because I couldn't have done any more. We're guessing right now that our pool time will be around 12 to 13 minutes, although Jacque is a better swimmer than I am.

55 Minutes of Hills

Bob couldn't make it to hill training tonight, so I went on my own. No-one was there when I arrived, so I walked up and down the first ramp by myself for 20 minutes. The turn-out tonight was really light due to a coaches meeting. Wes arrived and we walked together for two "laps". I'm glad I decided to go tonight since Austin in just under 2 weeks away.

4.5 Miles in the Park

Bob and I met at Oyster Creek this morning and walked a liesurely 4.5 miles. I'd only gotten out once this past week, so this morning's training was truly a long run. Bob hadn't been walking, either. He's just begun training for the MS150 bike ride and concentrating on that. We have the Austin Half Marathon on the 17th and joked that at the rate we're going, we'll be lucky if we come in last.
